Subclass 445
DEPENDENT CHILD VISA
For children under 23 (unless exempt) to be able to move to or stay in Australia temporarily while waiting for a parents permanent partner visa application to be processed
Basic Eligibility:

Be under 18 years; or
-
Be 18-23 years old and wholly or substantially dependent on the parent for at least 12 months prior to application; or
-
Over 23 years if mentally or physically incapacitated
-
Be the child of a parent who holds a temporary partner visa (sc309 or sc820)

Child satisfies standard health and character requirements
Subclass 101 / 802
CHILD VISAS
A permanent visa option for dependent children under 25 wanting to join and Australian citizen/PR or eligible New Zealand citizen in Australia

Basic Eligibility:
-
Be under 25 years
-
Must be single (and does not have/never had a spouse or defacto partner)
-
Cannot be in full-time work and must have been in full-time study since secondary school (unless reasonable exemption period applies)
-
Sponsored by and a child of an Australian citizen/PR or Eligible New Zealand Citizen over 18 years old
-
Sponsor satisfies character requirements
-
Child satisfies standard health and character requirements
Subclass 837 / 117 ORPHAN RELATIVE
A permanent visa option for a child with an Australian relative (citizen/permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen) whose parents are deceased, are permanently unable to care for them, or cannot be found

Basic Eligibility:

Child is under 18 and has no parent to care for them

Sponsored by a settled Australian relative
-
The visa grant must be in the best interests of the child
-
The child has consent to leave their home country
-
Meets standard health and character (over 16) requirements
Subclass 102
ADOPTION VISA
Visas for children adopted outside Australia to be able to live permanently with their adopted parent(s) in Australia

Basic Eligibility:
-
Adopted child under 18 years old at the time of visa grant
-
Adopted child is resident overseas
-
Adopted childs parents are Australian citizens/PR or Eligible New Zealand Citizens living overseas for at least 12 months at the time of applying
-
Laws relating to the adoption in that country have been complied with and the child has been adopted in accordance with the Hague Adoption Convention
