Subclass189
SKILLED INDEPENDANT (Permanent Visa)

This is a permanent residency visa offered in 3 different streams that allows invited workers, eligible New Zealand citizens and eligible Hong King or British National (Overseas) passport holders to live, work and study anywhere in Australia.
 

Subclass 189 Streams:

  1. Points tested stream

  2. New Zealand stream

  3. Hong Kong stream

This visa subclass does not require employer or state sponsorship

Subclass 491
SKILLED WORK REGIONAL (Provisional Visa) &
Subclass 190
SKILL NOMINATED (Permanent Visa)

Subclass 190 is a permanent residency visa that requires you to be nominated by an Australian state/territory.  

Subclass 491 is a provisional visa for a period of 5 years that provides a pathway to permanent residency through the sc191.  This visa requires that you are nominated by an Australian State/Territory, or be sponsored by an eligible Australian relative

For both the sc190 and sc491, you must meet the minimum points required and be invited to apply for the visa

Graduation Caps

Subclass 485
TEMPORARY GRADUATE (Temporary Visa)

The subclass 485 visa is for students who have recently completed at least 2 years of recognised study in Australia
 

Subclass 485 Streams:

  1. Graduate Work Stream (GW)

  2. Post Study Work Stream (PSW)


Basic Eligibility:

  • Be under 50 years old at time of applying

  • Completed your studies no more than 6 months ago

  • Meet the requirements for competent English

  • Obtain a provisional skills assessment (GW only)*

  • Meet standard health and character criteria

  • Hold OVHC (Overseas Visitors Health Cover)

This visa allows you to live, work and study in Australia for up to 2 years (5 years for Hong King & British National Overseas Passport holders). 

Regional study can be extended between 1-2 years depending on the location of your study and the area you live in for the PSW stream.

Holders of the sc485 visa can work for up to 40 hours per week

* To assist in COVID-19 recovery, having an occupation on the GWS list is temporarily N/A for the Graduate Work Stream from July 2022 until further notice
